Just write a simple front page that tells people what the Saddlechariot is and what it does.
They always say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is Hilary and Henry mucking about on Mothecombe Beach on the way down to the Royal Cornwall Show. Full pics and updates will be on the site very soon.
Back to what the saddlechariot is and what it does. First I have to know if you are interested in safety , or fun, or practical paddock maintenance , or tourism or the abilitiy to fly to Houston with a horse drawn vehicle in your luggage and not pay excess baggage?
Do you have a mini, or a large horse? Do you want a vehicle that will fit both? Are you young and fit, or getting on and a bit dodgy round the knees and back, or confined to a wheelchair? Do you intend to drive round the lawn and paddocks, or rural lanes, or city centres , or mountain and moorland, or beaches and sand dunes?
The Saddlechariot does it all but was actually only designed for someone whose sole concern was safety, and who was getting older and whose back and knees were iffy and who had a small pony called Henry.
The most unique safety feature is the instant release system. At any stage you can step off the vehicle SAFELY, and remove the vehicle from the pony, even at speed. Here is a video of the process .
I'll tell you what it doesn't do......the Saddlechariot doesn't carry servants or passengers. When I started designing the Saddlechariot, I looked all round the house and there wasn't a servant in sight, and certainly no grooms, so it was designed and built from scratch for people who didn't have grooms. But grooms with a modern well designed vehicle aren't necessary. NFU Mutual Insurance accept driving the Saddlechariot solo on a standard horse policy and describe the Saddlechariot as "a glorified horsedrawn vehicle but with extra safety mechanisms fitted". Anything with extra safety mechanisms is by definition safer, and that is all I have ever cared about.
Above all else the Saddlechariot is a practical working vehicle, an Organic All Terrain Vehicle . I emphasise the "working" element because working horsemen are interested in a safe vehicle which does the job. The vehicle doesn't have to impress the neighbours with its size or impracticality, it doesn't have to impress with the courage required to drive it. It just has to do the job.
The Saddlechariot
certainly does the job. I harrow the moss out of the paddock, haul shavings and food from the farm supply shop, aerate and roll the paddock, grade the mole hills, haul logs and water and pull a paddock topper. But like every other ATV, their real purpose is bombing around having a ball, and the Saddlechariot does that bit just as brilliantly. Training ponies and people to enjoy the saddlechariot is remarkably simple and quick because it is safe. I average 2 hours to put a green animal in a Saddlechariot, and it is done with no pressure, and with no risks. This article was written by a complete non horseman who I stuck on a Saddlechariot and sent off X country at a canter in under a minute.
