Most people build horse drawn vehicles so they can get on and drive, I build them so I can get off the vehicle, and get the vehicle off the pony. The Saddlechariot now features Instant Exit,Instant Vehicle Removal.
You step off, 8" back and 8" down, easily, safely and even at speed while retaining full control of the pony, (assuming you ever had it). One pull of the instant release rein, and the vehicle is released from the pony.
So "If you, or the pony, are worried, step off, releasing the Saddlechariot." A 12 word instruction manual.

Except of course for practise. My children get thoroughly bored with the word, so will you, but if you want the emergency system to work in emergencies, use it all the time. Then, in emergencies, you are using the everyday system. ALWAYS use the emergency system to remove the vehicle, and for the first few months, practice using it at every opportunity.
You practice jumping before you go in the ring, practice the Instant exit/Instant vehicle removal before you do anything else.
